  I hope this bad review is just due to growing pains. I've gone to the Destin AJs several times over the years and always found it respectable. However, our visit to the Grayton location was troubling at best. It seemed like there was some hostility between the host and hostesses (why did they have three?), the servers, and the kitchen that made the whole evening less than professional.
  
  First, we had a young child and asked to be seated either with a high chair, or at least not at a high bar stool. We were promptly seated at a very high table (even though other standard height ones appeared to be available), and the host tried to stack three high chairs up for our son to sit in. Too tippy. He stayed in my lap, or very close with me holding him with one hand in his high bar stool. Then, after waiting a while, we were greeted by a server who said - first thing, before hello - "don't order any sushi". Then the server told us that the kitchen would probably forget our sides, and if we ordered clams they would be as good as Publix frozen ones. After that we wanted to leave but we decided to tough it out, not wanting to make a scene in front of our children. At this point another server approached us and told us the wrong person was waiting on us, but it was the hostess fault and was too late to do anything. Several times throughout the night this other server showed up and asked how things were, but didn't wait around for a reply. When our food came, the person who brought it just said " who ordered this?" , and held up a plate of fried food that wasn't immediately distinguishable. When I asked which dish it was, she just told us she didn't cook it, and the kitchen didn't tell her what was what. We figured it out after I managed to close my mouth.
  
  The food itself was basically greasy and fried. The oil was heavy enough that it all tasted roughly the same. The hush puppies were actually pretty good and the slaw was fresh. The stuffed crab was ok. However I could not say much for the fries, scallops, red fish, or shrimp. The fish of the day was overdone in my opinion.
  
  They've made a good pass at the ambiance. It could be really cool.
  
  AJs is a respected institution and I really hope they can get this new location up to speed.

  The food was poor and over cooked. (Standard bar food) Our server didn't even smile the entire time. Seemed like he didn't want to be there. Ordered all you can eat shrimp. Only its not all you can eat, we waited over 30 minutes for the second plate of shrimp to come out. By then our server had cleared the rest of the table and everyone was ready to leave. I recommend avoiding AJ's when visiting the area.

  The employees at this restaurant don't know what's going on or how to treat customers.
  
  It started when I had called earlier in the day to get some info. I simply asked for the market price on their crab legs and what drink specials they had that night. I was told $27 for crab legs and 1/2 off drinks for ladies all day. Sounded great so we went. I get there only to realize crab was $37 and drink specials weren't until 9:00 killing my excitement to eat at this restaurant. When inquiring with our waiter and the manager we were treated with extreme rudeness and they did not own up to thier mistakes.
